Molecular Sieve 4A

A 4A molecular sieve is a synthetic zeolite with a pore size of 4 angstroms (0.4 nm). It is primarily used for adsorbing water, CO₂, and other polar molecules while excluding larger molecules. 4A molecular sieves are widely applied in gas drying, petrochemical refining, and industrial processes where moisture removal is critical.

1. Production Process

The manufacturing of 4A molecular sieves follows a structured process:

Step 1: Raw Material Preparation

  • The key raw materials are silica (SiO₂) and alumina (Al₂O₃), mixed with an alkali solution to form a gel.

Step 2: Zeolite Crystallization

  • The mixture is heated under controlled conditions, allowing zeolite 4A crystals to form.

Step 3: Filtration & Washing

  • The crystalline material is filtered, washed, and purified to remove impurities.

Step 4: Drying & Activation

  • The material is dried at high temperatures (450–600°C) to remove any remaining moisture, enhancing adsorption properties.

Step 5: Shaping & Packaging

  • The sieves are shaped into beads, pellets, or powders, depending on the application.
  • They are then packaged in airtight containers to prevent premature moisture adsorption.
